Aroma

DeLonghi Simbiosi ContestRethink the coffee experience
2017

The Aroma project aims to improve the consumption of coffee by modifying the user’s enjoyment by attributing new characters to this daily experience.

Research into current trends has shown a strong tendency for users to want to personalize, in an increasingly interactive way, the product they are going to consume. Companies have therefore focused on the technological innovation of the relationship between user and product.

This project aims at the total customization of the product by the user by imposing the choice from the beginning, ie the coffee bean. Delivering the product to the user even before its grinding significantly also increases the quality of the coffee that can also be consumed directly at home.

Coffee beans, in fact, are able to retain their organoleptic properties until the moment of grinding. After grinding, the coffee gradually loses its aromatic properties. The principle behind the project is to minimize the time between the grinding of the bean and the actual consumption of coffee ensuring each time a fresh and aromatic product.

The user, being able to grind the grains at the moment, can decide whether to rely on a taste already known or whether to mix different varieties of grains thus obtaining a different product and always closer to his personality. Here comes the customization factor of the product due to the different blending of the grains.

The choice of materials was inspired by the metal elements used by coffee roasters for the preservation and production of coffee, and was made possible thanks to the productive skills already present within the company.

The metal gives the machine a tone of elegance recalling the tools of the past; at the same time the metal manages to communicate perfectly with new technologies and current production processes. In addition, transparent elements allow the user to view the input and output raw material.
